While I wouldn't call it "firm" control, it does provide a medium amount of smoothing over the hip and thigh area. The legs are shorter than most shortie garments, but this allows for it to be worn under shorter dresses/skirts. I normally wear a size 4-6 dress/skirt and the sizing recommendations were appropriate.
